Melinda Shabka is an associate in the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Shabka focuses her practice on representing employers and carriers in the defense of workers' compensation claims. She has successfully represented numerous cases for claimants and employer/carrier falling under the Florida State Workers' Compensation, U.S. Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and Defense Base Act Cases. Ms. Shabka also has experience in all aspects of real estate law, including commercial and residential real estate transactions, title insurance, and closings. Her practice also includes family law and mediation.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Shabka was an attorney with a Tampa law firm where she practiced in the areas of workers' compensation defense and general liability. Previously, she was managing attorney of the workers' compensation claims department at a Tampa law firm.
Ms. Shabka received her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami, Fla., and a Master of Science summa cum laude from St. Thomas University, graduating with dual degrees in May 2006. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in 2002, where she majored in Sociology and English. While in law school, she was editor of the St. Thomas University Human Rights Law Review and received the book award in Advance Legal Research and Writing.
Ms. Shabka is licensed to practice law in Florida and New Jersey and is admitted to the state courts of Florida and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
