Attorney Nelson A. Guerra obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor degree from Texas Southern University. After graduation, he returned to Tampa and began his career as an Assistant Public Defender where he gained extensive trial and litigation experience. After leaving the public sector, he worked for private firms defending bodily injury, wrongful death, and premises liability claims from pre-suit through all phases of litigation including state trials.
Nelson joined Gonzalez & Associates in 2013 and serves as the managing attorney of our Brandon, Florida office. He currently represents medical service providers in pursuit of payment of reduced or unpaid insurance claims, debtors in bankruptcy proceedings and homeowners in mortgage foreclosure cases. Having been licensed to practice law in Florida since 1995, he has a broad range of experience regarding a variety of matters.
Relying on his prior experience, in 2007 Mr. Guerra began to help bodily injury claimants prosecute their claims. Additionally, as a Supreme Court certified Circuit and County Court mediator and Federal mediator, he has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution. He has also represented many consumers prosecuting lemon law claims before the Attorney General's office. Mr. Guerra is licensed to practice law in all Florida State Courts. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Florida Middle District Bankruptcy Court and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
