Paul Johnson works for Pemberton Law out of the Alexandria office. Paul has over 30 years of experience in representing large and closely held businesses, cooperatives and townships in a variety of legal matters. He has broad experience in every stage of a business including pre-organization planning, entity selection, and formation issues for corporations, limited liability companies, and cooperatives; shareholder, and operating agreements; drafting and negotiating contracts with vendors, employees, customers, partners, and others; and dissolution or termination.
Paul is also an experienced real estate practitioner including the preparation of deeds, easements, mortgages, title opinions, title insurance, foreclosures, cancellations, and all related matters. Additionally, Paul has been general counsel for Runestone Electric Association and Crow Wing Cooperative Power & Light Company for many years and has counseled other area cooperatives. As a result, he is well versed in all areas of cooperative law and operations. Finally, Paul represents a number of area townships.
Paul received his law degree from the University of North Dakota Law School and received his double major undergraduate degrees in economics and English from Concordia College summa cum laude. He passed his bar exams in Minnesota and North Dakota in 1979.
Paul is active in the community having served as a board member of the United Way and is a past president of both the Alexandria Area Community Foundation and the Sertoma Club.
A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Paul and his wife, Sue have lived in Alexandria for more than 30 years. After raising three children in Alexandria, Paul and Sue are now empty-nesters, but they enjoy traveling to visit their children and grandchildren in Bloomington, Fargo, and Atlanta.
