"Rachelle Sousa is an attorney in the Fort Lauderdale office where she is currently practicing in the area of premises liability. Her background includes working at a large insurance defense firm representing government departments, multi-national corporations, HOAs, insurance companies, and other defendants in cases involving premises liability, automobile accidents, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and negligent security. She served as temporary in-house counsel for an international car rental company and assisted the company with pre-suit settlements. There she worked alongside insurance adjusters and saw firsthand how the cases are initially handled, worked up, negotiated, and settled during the pre-suit phase. Rachelle utilizes her past knowledge and experiences in her premises cases to benefit her clients.
Rachelle was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked for her family's construction company and enjoyed visiting the commercial job sites prior to attending the University. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Spanish Philology and a minor in International Studies. During undergrad, she lived in Queretaro, Mexico, and Murcia, Spain and is fluent in Spanish. She received her Juris Doctorate and a Masters of Law in International Human Rights from St. Thomas University School of Law. She prepared a thesis on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children analyzing differences and issues in international, national, and local laws. She is a former volunteer of the Latino Achievement Mentoring Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a Guardian ad Litem programs and was a case manager at a refugee resettlement agency."
