Please help me, help you by taking this review very seriously….I would give Bob negative stars if I could. I retained Bob’s services and he ended up costing me thousands upon thousands of dollars due to his negligence (this was in addition to paying him hourly for his lackluster services, to put it mildly). The Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel of MO investigated Bob due to complaints I lodged against him. It is my understanding that the OCDC rejects a very high percentage of complaints that come across their desks, but they did not reject mine, involving Bob. He didn’t make just a single mistake or provide some questionable service, he made several huge costly errors on my case. Only when I confronted Bob about his series of negligent actions and breach of duties, did he decide that we “weren’t a good fit”? A respectable lawyer would have dealt with the problems head-on, but Bob denied, lied, and made excuses for himself.  Not respectable behavior, in my opinion.  I was told by other lawyers (that I exposed Bob’s negligence to and asked for their opinions regarding said negligence) that Bob would “settle” before I sued him for malpractice. That’s what they would have done anyway.  When I confronted Bob about his errors, he did not do what other attorneys told me he would/should do, but instead, he became defensive (he was caught, multiple times for different reasons).  Therefore, Bob got reported to the OCDC. At one point, Bob’s firm made a very careless mistake in sending me another client’s emails that had the same first name as mine (Jill).  After that error, I had correspondence between her and my lawyer. That error didn’t cost me financially (for once) but that is so embarrassing for the other Jill. I’m not saying that Bob is a bad guy but I do feel that Bob is a really, really incompetent attorney. I believe that Bob’s peers would defend Bob (when he asks them to), but most people want to keep their skeletons in their closets. I doubt Bob is going around notifying his peers of his colossal screw ups and being investigated by the OCDC. I reviewed my current attorney 13 months ago on AVVO. He fights for you. He doesn’t hand your case off to minions. He’s aware, he’s present, he’s smart, he’s professional, he’s not off vacationing prior to important court dates and being severly underprepared but showing up anyway, he’s detail-oriented, he’s not corrupt, he loves his job, he cares, he doesn’t blindly agree to opposing counsel’s calculations, he’s honest, he’s a bulldog, he’s proactive, not just reactive, and he doesn’t end up costing you over 50 + grand due to negligence. There is absolutely no comparison between my current lawyer and Bob Hamilton. Hiring a lawyer is never fun and with so many choices, please take your hard-earned money elsewhere. I could have done a better job representing myself. I feel that Bob is tired of his profession in his latter years and is simply collecting client’s checks but putting in no real effort. He makes things worse. Much, much worse.  This, coming from a person that understands humans are not perfect and we all make mistakes.  That is not what happened in my dealings with Bob Hamilton.  This goes much, much deeper.
