Ronnie Mabra Jr. serves as the State Representative for District 63 in the Georgia General Assembly. Ronnie is a member of the Judiciary, Higher Education, Code Revision, and Governmental Affairs committees. During his tenure in the House Ronnie has sponsored two pieces of legislation that passed and became Georgia law. House Bill 828 protects accident victims by restricting the release of their private information. House Bill 804 added a fifth judge to the Superior Court in Clayton County. This is a monumental achievement for a new lawmaker, especially one in the minority party. In addition to his legislative accomplishments, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal appointed Ronnie to the Juvenile Justice State Advisory Group, and in 2015 the Georgia Child Support Commission. Georgia Speaker of the House David Ralston appointed Ronnie to the High School Athletics Overview Committee.
Ronnie has called Georgia home his entire life. He is a proud native of Fayetteville where he was a standout varsity athlete for the Fayette County High School Tigers. Ronnie was committed to staying in Georgia and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a member of the All-ACC Academic Honor Team, Ronnie successfully balanced Georgia Tech’s rigorous academic requirements with the challenges that accompany playing four seasons as a strong safety. In 2000, Ronnie made the difficult decision to forgo the NFL Scouting Combine and instead set his sights on law school. Continuing to keep his talent in state, Ronnie attended the University of Georgia School of Law.
In addition to serving in the Georgia General Assembly, Ronnie is also a dedicated trial lawyer and founder of the Mabra Firm, LLC., a personal injury firm in Midtown Atlanta. Ronnie is an active member of the legal community. He is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Fayette County Bar Association. Over the last five years, Ronnie has been featured by Georgia Super Lawyers magazine as one of Georgia’s top lawyers. In 2013 and 2014, Ronnie’s law firm was recognized as one of the fastest growing businesses in the country started by a University of Georgia graduate. Recently, Ronnie was recognized by the Fulton County Daily Report’s ‘On the Rise Under 40’ list, the Atlanta Business Chronicle ’40 Under 40’, the National Bar Association ‘40 Under 40’ and the UGA Bulldog ‘40 Under 40’.
Ronnie is married to former Ms. Dawn Brawley of Queens, New York. Dawn, a health care professional, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Human Development. She also has graduate degrees from Emory University in Public Health and Georgia State University in Educational Psychology. Dawn is currently enrolled in a Masters Program at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Ronnie and Dawn welcomed a baby boy, Ronald E. Mabra III (Remiii) last September and he is the light of their lives.
Ronnie’s love for his community and the state of Georgia continues to drive him to support his community. A passionate sports fan, you can often find Ronnie cheering for the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, Yellow-Jackets, Dawgs (when they are not playing Georgia Tech) and of course, his Fayette County Tigers, where he is an active Booster. Ronnie has a strong sense of obligation to Georgia for the many opportunities this state has given to him.
