In Pemberton Law's Fergus Falls office, Sarah maintains a general practice, focusing primarily in the areas of real estate and civil litigation. She also maintains a practice in special education law.
Sarah represents clients in a variety of general real estate matters and transactions. She also represents individuals, as well as privately-held and family-owned businesses, in litigation involving real estate, business transactions, and contract disputes. Additionally, she has represented thousands of individuals in one of the nation's largest multidistrict litigation (MDL) mass tort cases.
Prior to joining Pemberton Law, Sarah worked for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) as a Legal Analyst in the Compliance and Assistance division enforcing state and federal special education laws. She also enjoys continuing this work representing school districts on various special education law issues.
Sarah graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 2003 before attending Gustavus Adolphus College and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007, with a major in Psychology and minor in Women's Studies. After receiving her undergraduate degree, Sarah completed one year of community service with AmeriCorps VISTA, a volunteer program with the mission of bringing low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. It was this program that ultimately motivated Sarah to obtain her law degree, which she received from William Mitchell College of Law. She has continued to carry this experience into her law practice, being named a North Star Lawyer in 2013, 2014, and 2015. A North Star Lawyer is recognized annually for providing 50+ hours of pro bono legal services to low-income individuals.
Sarah joined Pemberton Law as an associate attorney in 2012. She is a Fergus Falls, Minnesota native. She has always appreciated the benefits of a small community and is proud to return and establish her legal career in the community in which she grew up. Professionally, Sarah is the Treasurer of the Otter Tail County Bar Association and has served as Co-Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association New Lawyers Section. Locally, Sarah is on the board of directors for Fergus Falls Noon Kiwanis and has previously served as President of the board of directors at A Center for the Arts.
Sarah and her husband, Mike, reside in Fergus Falls with their daughter, Claire, and son, Jack. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Minnesota's lake country.
