      Biography

Scott R. Leah is a shareholder in the firm's Litigation Department and his practice includes almost all aspects of the legal issues facing today's small and mid-sized businesses.

Scott advises employers and represents them on the myriad of legal issues that they face, such as disputes with vendors and customers, breach of contract and liability claims, negotiations of contracts and leases, preventing or ending disparagement or unfair competition by former employees and/or competitors, as well as any corporate governance issues that they may face.

He regularly advises employers on employment issues such as:

      • wage and hour (overtime and minimum wage), Family and Medical Leave Act, unemployment compensation claims, American's with Disabilities Act, USERRA, discrimination (gender, race, age), harassment and other employment laws and regulations.

      • employee handbooks and policies.
      • termination and discharge of employees.
      • hiring and interviewing practices.
      • employment contracts and non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements.
      • severance agreements.

He also successfully assists many businesses with the critical function of getting paid for the work that they do, from drafting initial demand letters, filing lawsuits for unpaid invoices, negotiating payment terms and, if necessary, taking actions to execute on assets in order to collect on any judgments obtained.
