      Biography

Sean M. James joined the firm in January of 2020 and has been in the legal field since 2010. Sean's prior experience in various areas of the law bolsters a complete and wholistic approach to representing clients in various immigration matters in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

As a proud Lincolnite, Sean has always understood the importance of defending our immigrant communities and offering refuge to those that cannot return to their home countries. Coming from a diverse familial background of immigrants, Sean deeply believes in the United States' duty to be a beacon of hope for those seeking refuge, zealously advocating for immigration reform so that purpose may be fulfilled. Prior to law school, Sean obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2010, majoring in Spanish (emphasizing philology and literature), as well as international studies (emphasizing geo-political discourse of Ibero-American states), with minors in Latin American studies, history, and LGBTQ studies. He began his university career with the goal of becoming an interpreter for the United Nations, focusing his studies on Spanish, German and French. Sean quickly realized that his voice was best used in the defense of others and switched to the studies of which he graduated.

Sean went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln College of Law in 2014, focusing his studies on immigration, international law, and humanitarian-based areas of the law. Sean was admitted to practice law in the state of Nebraska, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review in 2014. It is with great pride and conviction that Sean defends and advocates for his clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (both the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals), the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Consular Affairs. Just as it is inscribed above the main entrance of the Nebraska State Capitol, Sean firmly believes that "the Salvation of the State is Watchfulness of the Citizen," and in holding true to that ideal, he remains ever vigilant in his defense of others.
