      Biography

      Stephanie G. Crippen practices in a number of areas, including family law, landlord tenant actions, probate matters and DUI. Her primary practice area is family law, including juvenile law, custody issues, child support, divorce, separation and orders of protection. Stephanie has handled a number of high asset family law cases.

      She is an aggressive and experienced litigator that fights for her client’s rights. Stephanie is skilled in negotiations; often obtaining settlements for her clients. She has successfully obtained settlements up to nearly half a million dollars in divorce actions.

      Clients have described Stephanie as “honest and dependable” and “very attentive” to their needs. Stephanie is able to work with clients through all aspects of their legal action, explaining their options, answering questions, and offering advice on the best course of action.

      Stephanie also advocates for the rights of children through her work as a Guardian ad Litem fighting for actions that will be in the best interest of children in dependency and neglect cases. Through her work as a Guardian ad Litem, Stephanie has become extremely competent in dealing with juvenile law and has built a reputation as a knowledgeable attorney in all areas of juvenile law.

      Stephanie has a master’s degree in counseling and understands the emotional complexities of family law cases. She has an excellent rapport with other attorneys, as well as the Department of Children’s Services, and will work hard to tend to both the legal and emotional needs of clients.

      Stephanie is one of the few attorneys in Knoxville that is certified in the collaborative divorce process. With this process, Stephanie is able to help clients equitably settle all aspects related to divorce without the time and expense of litigation. She is also a board member and committee chair for the East Tennessee Collaborative Alliance. Stephanie also holds training certificates in civil mediation and Rule 31 family law mediation. She is currently working towards receiving her domestic violence certification.

      Stephanie was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She graduated in the top 25 of her class at Central High School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a bachelor's degree in political science and history in 1997. In 2008 she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a master's degree in counseling. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence at Lincoln Memorial's Duncan School of Law, where she was on the Dean's List.

      While in law school, Stephanie served as student representative on the Academic Integrity Committee and also as a member of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. Stephanie has spent a number of years as a volunteer with the American Diabetes Association. While in law school, she interned with Legal Aid of East Tennessee and also with the Knox County Juvenile Court.

      Stephanie enjoys traveling the world, volunteering and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of both the Knoxville and Tennessee Bar Association.
