Stephanie L. Maddox received her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2015, graduating cum laude. She received her Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2009, making the Dean’s List in her final two semesters. While in law school, Ms. Maddox focused on criminal law and obtained her Certificate of Concentration in Criminal Practice.
Ms. Maddox interned for the Office of the Public Defender for Baltimore City, Misdemeanor Jury Trial Division, in the summer following her first year of law school. She later interned for the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City, Major Investigations Division, from fall semester as a second year law student until she graduated in 2015. As a third year law student, Ms. Maddox practiced as a Maryland Rule 16 Attorney with the Office of the Public Defender for Baltimore County in the Juvenile Division. Additionally, Ms. Maddox was a Staff Editor for the University of Baltimore Law Review, the most esteemed publication of the school.
After graduating from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2015, Ms. Maddox was hired by the Circuit Court of Maryland for Baltimore City as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Karen C. Friedman. The first part of her clerkship was spent in the Criminal Trial Division, while the second half was spent in the Family Division. In August, 2016, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City hired Ms. Maddox as a prosecutor. During her tenure as an Assistant State’s Attorney, she handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases conducting numerous trials including drug possession, handgun possession, theft, economic crimes, assaults, attempted murder, etc. She handled dockets in both the District Court and Juvenile Divisions and was able to excel in her development of courtroom presence and knowledge of the law.
Born and raised in Southern Maryland, Ms. Maddox has returned home from Baltimore City to practice at the Law Office of James E. Farmer, LLC. She represents clients charged with criminal offenses and also handles personal injury and other civil matters.
