Taylor B. Downs graduated from the WVU College of Law in 2011 and began practicing law with the Manchin Injury Law Group in September 2011. While in law school, Taylor was a member of the WVU College of Law Moot Court Board, drafted and introduced HB3015, the Healthy and Safe Workplace Act, in the West Virginia House of Delegates, successfully competed in appellate advocacy competitions in Morgantown, WV, and New York City, NY, organized the inaugural National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition at the WVU College of Law, was president of the Democratic Law Caucus, and was honored by the WVU College of Law as a student of academic excellence. Additionally, Taylor was involved in the College of Law’s Legal Clinic, where he helped clients with little means have access to justice. Taylor is a member of the West Virginia Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, and is a state coordinator for the Healthy and Safe Workplace Initiative. In addition to a J.D. from the WVU College of Law, Taylor graduated magna cum laude from Shepherd University with a B.S. degree in political science and a B.A. degree in History.
In 2012, Taylor was named a member of the Board of Governors for the West Virginia Association for Justice. In addition to his duties as a member of the Board of Governors, Taylor chairs the West Virginia Association for Justice's new lawyer division.
In 2013, Taylor was named a member of the West Virginia Elections Commission, appointed by the Governor of the State of West Virginia.
In 2014, Taylor became a member of the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice, was named a Top 40 attorney under 40 in West Virginia by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys and was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine.
In addition to practicing law, Taylor is very active in his community. Currently, Taylor is a member of the South Fairmont Rotary, is a member of the board for the Marion County Rescue Squad, and is a member of the board for Augusta Development Corporation.
Taylor practices primarily in the areas of personal injury litigation, including medical malpractice, products liability, car accidents, insurance bad faith issues, workplace injuries, and wrongful death. Taylor is admitted to practice to the West Virginia State Bar, United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
