Tim Mahoney is a Principal in the law firm of Mahoney & Mahoney, LLC. who has lived in Stephenson County his entire life. He graduated from Aquin High School in 1985 and then received his under graduate degree from St Ambrose University, graduating with BA in 1989. In 1992, he graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Law. He was the third person in the University named to their Moot Court Hall of Fame. Since receiving his license to practice law he has practiced at Mahoney & Hauser, Ltd. exclusively. He has been involved in all areas of litigation from criminal law, family law and estates, to now focusing in personal injury exclusively.
Tim has obtained multiple million-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients over the past 20 years that he has been focusing in Personal Injury/Trucking Litigation. Tim has successfully prosecuted cases on behalf of injured clients and their families throughout Illinois and in other states across the country as well. Tim has been honored by being inducted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a national group of trial lawyers who have achieved million or multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of their clients. Statewide and nationally, Tim has been a long-time professional member of the Illinois State and American Bar Association as well as the American Association for Justice. Locally, he has been the chairperson for the Stephenson County Merit Commission since 1995 to present. He was the President of the Stephenson County Bar Association for 2002 to 2008. He has received a rating from Martindale Hubbell that indicates his peers consider him to have a high to very high legal ability and exemplary reputation having been recognized for the highest levels in integrity. Tim most recently received the National Academy of Truck Accident Attorney certification. Tim has been the recipient of the Freeport Journal Standard's Best in the Region readers' choice awards. He was voted one of the top three attorneys in the region, from the conception of the poll in 1999 to the present. He has been voted best attorney in the region nine years in a row. Tim has also taught business law at Highland Community College, and is a graduate of the Highland Leadership Institute. He has sat on the boards of United Way, Jane Addams Mental Healthcare, Parkview Nursing Home, and the Aquin Open Committee, as well the Catholic Education Foundation to name a few. He has also received acknowledgments from VOICES the Stephenson County Domestic Violence Program and Malcolm Eaton Enterprises Day Facility for Adults with developmental disabilities for significant pro bono services to their organizations. Tim's daughter resides in Los Angeles, California, where his daughter is following a dream of becoming an actress.
