Biography
Mr. Mukaida has represented hundreds of injured workers before the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. He has also handled workers' compensation cases before Hawaii's Intermediate Court of Appeals and Supreme Court:
Wilson v. State, Dept. of Health, 131 Haw. 545, 319 P.3d 464 (2014) (corrected 2/4/2014) (equitable estoppel against employer);
Van Ness v. State Dept. of Education, 131 Haw. 545, 319 P.3d 464 (2014) (compensable pulmonary condition due to vog);
Alayon v. Urban Management Corp., CAAP-11-0000676 (12/31/2014) (A claimant should not be denied benefits under Hawaii`s WC law simply because her physicians failed to properly enter the requisite report in the prescribed manner);
Panoke v. Reef Development of Hawai‘i, Inc., SCWC-11-0000556 (12/14/2015) (A reasonable degree of specificity is required in order for medical opinion evidence to rebut the presumption of compensability);
Ihara v. DLNR, 141 Hawai'i 36, 404 P.3d 302 (2017) (Extent of disability must be expressed as a percentage).
